'Connect, Devote and Beyond...'

I’m so pleased to give my greetings to the International Shoulder and Elbow Society members overseas. I also express my best regards hoping that all the members have kept healthy and had meaningful time in 2021.

This is the third winter we meet under the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.
There have been varieties of restrictions in our academic communication since the outbreak of COVID-19. Many of international conferences were cancelled or postponed. A lot of plans and aims we have pursued were suspended without any promise of restart. It was truly listless time to all of us.

However, we have tried to make a breakthrough with cheers from our members. Despite all the limitations, the Korean Shoulder and Elbow Society (KSES) successfully held the first on/off line international congress in April and the autumn congress in October, 2021.
As a part of effort to communicate with the public, we opened YouTube channel, ‘Shoulder Health TV’ to provide accurate information about shoulder diseases, which is being greatly received. And we are expanding our activities to the whole society so that we can increase understanding of shoulder diseases. In addition, KSES started to raise funds for the continuous development of the society. Now, our members’ donation is going on in succession with positive responses. We are planning to use this funds in supporting young researchers and SCI registration in CiSE, Asia-Korea traveling fellow project, presentation of academic awards.

Now, 2022 is just around the corner.
The hardships we have suffered for 2 years will definitely serve as a foundation of greater growth in ‘international orthopaedic circles’.
Wishing you good health and all the best, I really want you to wrap up 2021 well and welcome the new year with hopes and expectations.
Surely, we’ll get together face-to-face again in the near future.
